SPECTACLES DEVELOPMENT 50S-70S GOLDEN AGE

The frame style before 2nd world war was unisex and due to the limited lens development tehnique, the frames cannot be too large. For example, 20s frame style was mainly round circle and 30s frame style was mainly Boston style. In 40s, frame development was stopped due to 2nd world war. After the war, from 1947, frame style development was separated into male
and female style. Cat eye style is for female and combination frame such as Shuron Ronsir is for male. That period was time of Cold War and It was fought by the capitalists with the US as the leader and the communists with the USSR as the leader. There were several features: spying operations, arms race, propaganda as well as economic and military cooperation. In that time, all countries wanted to develop from world war and hence esteem literature to suppress fight against each other. Therefore,
'college' style of eyeglasses raise. These series of 50s-70s we searched were from Europe. Some of frames are from the 50's discontinued dead stocks which are signatured in that time. They were mainly from Spain, France, italy, Germany, etc. From 50s, there were still very few optical shop in Hong Kong (train optical shops were developed from late 80s onwards). And those old optical shop in Hong Kong that opened from 50s and still working now are even less. The development of optical shops
was longer in Europe. Moreover, the 'Cat eye' & combination frame ( Brow frame) model is the main style of 50s. We were suprised that we found frames which were made in Hong Kong since such frames were totally discontinued and they are signatures for the frame golden age industry in 60s to 70s of Hong Kong. As a Hong Kong company and Hong Kong person, we are pride of such 'Made in Hong Kong' frames. Only those made in Hong Kong frames were selected as our gallery and for
watching purpose only and not for sales. Nowadays, it is no way to find such frames that are 'Made in Hong Kong' since market of making frames are in China. Although the frames seems old, they are not second hand and we did polishing on our own. They are special for those who like vintage and unique frame style. All are precious for collect. The square fit size (not over-size) are the collage style of 60s. In early 60s, the frames were thin style and became thick style in late 60s.  The 'Tear-drop' style were
signature for the 70s. The above 50s-70s vintage frame style could last longer then the style nowadays and therefore, such frames are of very good quality, no matter for the plastic parts or metal parts.
